We’re Hiring: Sustainability and Carbon Manager

Summary Job Function:

Mediatree is recruiting a Sustainability and Carbon Manager, to join its Sustainability Team.  The chosen candidate will work alongside the rest of the team to drive decarbonisation in the Investor Relations industry.

Useful areas of experience/specialisation: Sustainability, Emissions tracking and Calculations, Sustainability Reporting, Mitigation, Offsetting, Data Analysis, Events, Investor Relations, Marketing, Communication, Project Management, and to a lesser extent Strategy/Planning.

Fluency in English is required and multiple languages is a preference but not a requirement.

Core Responsibilities:

External/Client-facing

  • Calculation:
    • Provide support for calculations of live projects and carry out calculations for future events
    • Provide a supporting role for calculation engine maintenance: help soundboard new ideas for improvements, efficiencies and accuracy enhancing measures
  • Offsetting, Certification and Reporting:
    • Assist in the offsetting process once the calculations of projects have been audited
    • Manage the certification process
    • Work to streamline the reporting process
  • Mitigation:
    • Research into what best practice mitigation strategies exist for investor communication. Over time and with experience, aid in the creation of our own
    • Develop systems to assess and onboard relevant suppliers to a database that can be used for mitigation
    • Undertake training to develop skills in this field
  • Product development:
    • Provide a supporting role in expanding the product to fit the needs of our growing customer base
    • Be curious about ways to improve the product
  • Business Development and Marketing for GreenerRoadshows:
    • Join marketing trips
    • Participate in pitches
    • Support on core markets e.g. France, Spain and Italy as/when required

 

Internal

  • Certifications and reporting:
    • Help to drive improvements across the BCorp and ISO performance metrics and audit processes
    • Ensure that at a minimum, we are maintaining our existing standards across the BCorp and ISO performance metrics and audit processes
    • Provide support on internal data collection and yearly calculation for Mediatree’s emissions and carbon neutrality
    • Help to draft, iterate and publish Mediatree’s annual impact report using the previous year as a template
    • Staying abreast of major changes and key trends in sustainability
  • Sustainability initiatives and engagement:
    • Help to galvanise and motivate the team via group activities that are both educational and fun
    • Making the wider team aware of key upcoming conferences and workshops the sustainability department should attend/sponsor/participate in
    • Helping to manage 3rd party relationships with charitable partners and conducting research into new, relevant and impactful charitable partnerships
  • Other:
    • Anything else that you are interested in and passionate about that will benefit the growth and trajectory of the wider team and the company as a whole
      • Introducing best practice from previous jobs
      • Introducing tools and platforms for productivity etc.
      • Any additional roles that you have had at previous companies that you believe could be relevant and beneficial at Mediatree

 

Education and Qualifications:

  • Educated to a bachelor degree level or equivalent in a subject that is directly or indirectly related to the world of sustainability from a university with a reputation for excellence in the subject in question. Minimum 2:1 (or equivalent)
  • If possible, prior experience (including internships) at PR agency, investment bank/ECM team or in a corporate IR team
