IPO, €4,5 bn
This IPO was one of the largest of 2005. The French government launched the transaction as announced, despite the ‘No’ vote in May 2005 on the European Constitution that created great political uncertainty. Encouraged by the good result on the SANEF motorway IPO, it opted to privatise Gaz de France. This IPO did not disappoint. The transaction was largely oversubscribed (24 times), priced at the top of the range and traded up almost 20% on the opening day. The company entered the CAC-40 index on 1st September 2005.
Media Tree organised all the international and domestic French roadshows. The total retail offering was a great success, gathering an unprecedented 3 million individual subscribers.
“Media Tree managed a seamless roadshow for the three teams which delivered our institutional and retail presentations across Europe and the US for what was a landmark IPO in 2005. We were impressed with the professionalism and hard work that went into organizing this very successful event and I will most warmly recommend Media Tree to anybody else." Jean-François Cirelli, Chief Executive, Gaz de France
