France Telecom (telecoms)

IPO, €3 bn

France Télécom launched a capital increase at the very beginning of September'05 to finance its acquisition of Spanish mobile operator Amena. The rationale for this acquisition was explained to the market extensively in a two-week roadshow, by two management teams across Europe. The French State agreed for its proporation to be reduced (it did not exercise its rights) and currently owns 33% of the company, instead of 34% pre-rights issue.

Media Tree was mandated with less than one week notice to put together this roadshow. It was complicated by the fact that each day, new company executives weaved themselves in and out of the programme, making it more like a dozen or so mini-roadshows for various people. We were able to tailor the service to suit the very strong individual needs and adapt these to the team.
Due to the success of the roadshow Media Tree has been retained on a rolling contract to co-ordinate all investor relations roadshows for France Télécom.
